Ever peeked into your spice rack thinking, “Could there be a remedy in here for my upset belly?” Well, a recent study spilled some beans that turmeric (yeah, that bright yellow spice) might just be the sidekick we’ve all been needing for indigestion.
They rounded up over 150 folks having a rough time with their tummies and gave them either the usual med called omeprazole, some turmeric, or a bit of both. Guess what? After checking in with them a couple of times, turmeric was hanging in there, toe-to-toe with that fancy med.
Now, if you’ve got pals in Southeast Asia, they might’ve already told you about turmeric’s cool tummy-calming powers. Over in the U.S., we’ve mostly chatted about turmeric being great for things like joint aches or tummy grumbles.
But, this study? It’s like the first schoolyard showdown between turmeric and omeprazole in the world of belly aches.
